Amanda has an extensive background in the business and human side of technology, working in Cloud Management and as a Technical Recruiter for both Fortune 10 and startups. In 2023, she quit her job and moved to the Salt Lake area after a family member was paralyzed in a mountain biking accident. She trained as an in-home caregiver at the U of U’s Neilsen Rehabilitation Hospital and became deeply immersed in how natural health, world-class medicine, and emergent technologies can improve outcomes after a life-altering injury or stroke. Amanda joined the HRELab team as a volunteer in August 2025 hoping to bring more patient and caregiver perspectives to the design and development process of external device controls that expand the environment and personal freedom of wheelchair-bound individuals.
