Prospective students at UofU: If you’re interested in working at the HRELab, fill out the following Google form to indicate your interests, timeline, and goals. PI Hallock receives an email for every response submitted and will reach out for an in-person interview if/when opportunities are available related to your expertise and interests. Feel free to reach out to her directly via email, but due to email volume, you may not receive a response. Openings typically coincide with other students graduating from the lab, so look out for opportunities at the start and end of semesters.

PI Hallock’s 5000/6000-level class, Intro to Physical HRI, is a great way to get involved in HRELab-type research when lab positions are unavailable. The course is typically offered every spring and is open to both undergraduate and graduate students in all engineering departments, and it includes a substantial research project. Reach out to PI Hallock for the most current syllabus.

Prospective students not yet at UofU: Please put in an official application to the UofU Mechanical Engineering and/or Robotics PhD/Master’s programs, then send an email with your CV and interests to the address below. If you feel you are a better fit for a different department (e.g., ECE or bioengineering), reach out anyway to discuss your situation! Note that these emails will likely not be answered directly due to high volume, but your interest will be logged and considered as positions are available.

Prospective users of HRELab devices/experimental participants: We’re currently early in development stages, but are always looking for folks excited to try new assistive and rehabilitative robotic devices and assist with all stages of the development process.
