PhD Student, Robotics

University of Utah

Ajay Anand is currently a Robotics PhD student at the University of Utah working at the Human–Robot Empowerment Lab under Professor Laura Hallock. He graduated with a masters degree in robotics from the University of Pennsylvania working under Professor Michelle Johnson at the GRASP Lab. Prior to his time at Penn, he obtained a bachelors degree in mechatronics from Manipal University with a minor in robotics and automation. He is also an experienced research engineer, having worked for the Rehab Robotics Lab to design novel humanoid robotic solutions to augment rehabilitation interactions. He is currently working on leveraging human sensing (electromyography, sonomyography, and motion capture) to quantify engagement in order to build more effective rehabilitative robots.
